Antiracism Trainings

Trainings are designed to meet the individual needs for each organization requesting services. Below are some sample trainings, however your leaders will meet with Dr. Paone to discuss your goals, needs, and seek outcomes to create the most effective training for you. Dr. Paone is an antiracist educator in Higher Education. She is a published writer and experienced presenter. Dr. Paone focuses on racial identity and other diversity areas through most of her presentations. Her background in play therapy allows her presentations to be not only informative, but fun and experiential for her attendees. Dr. Paone believes that when you get people up and moving, the impact of learning is much greater than simply sitting and being lectured at. Taking Off The Rose Colored Glasses: Understanding Whiteness

Through Activities Addressing Whiteness and related issues of power, privilege, and racism can be complex, difficult, and dynamic! This interactive hands-on workshop, meant for persons of any race or ethnicity, provides a challenging opportunity for exchanging experiences and opinions regarding what it means to be White in this society. Issues of personal and societal racism will be explored through activities and dialogue. Workshop participants will gain a better understanding of themselves as well as respectful and effective ways to work with BIPOC. They will also gain knowledge and skills for increasing fairness and opportunity for all clientele. Workshop members should expect to increase personal awareness and to experience personal growth as well as empowerment.

Understanding Diversity: Do We Really Know How White Affects Color?

How does being White reflect how I treat BIPOC? In this experiential presentation, attendees will learn about the ways in which their Whiteness does affect people around them in ways one may not be aware of. Having this awareness can be one of the most effective means for working with people of color.

Race Card: How Does Systemic Racism Affect BIPOC?

This experiential presentation will offer attendees an understanding of the systemic racism that exists for BIPOC. Attendees will learn how to identify and understand how this type of racism plays a role in everyday life. Attendees will also learn to incorporate this reality for BIPOC into their own work setting and interactions.

 

Fighting Racism

Racism exists everywhere and, all too often, people are unable to identify when they participate in it. It is important to express one's thoughts about racism and truly understand that we all have racist tendencies. In this experiential workshop, participants will learn how to identify their own and others racism, as well as how to confront it. This skill is necessary when working with others who do not share the same racial identifier as you.
